Responsibilities include managing advanced heart failure patients and devices such as ECMO and VADs, primarily during night shifts with support from APPs and anesthesia staff. The role involves critical care procedures including bronchoscopy, chest tubes, and ECMO cannulations within a multidisciplinary team environment.Specialty: Internal Medicine - Critical Care MedicineStart date: ASAPEnd date: OngoingCoverage type: Scheduled Clinic Hours + CallSchedule:Intensivist coverage in cardiac ICU. Anesthesia, Pulmonary and other fellowship-trained Intensivists welcome. Familiarity with ECMO, VADs, and other MCS required. 2-3 APPs in house during day. 1 APP in house at night. APPs do all notes, orders, and billing except ECMO management notes. APPs credentialed for all lines including PA catheters. Physician only needed at night for bronchoscopy, chest tubes, or ECMO cannulations. Anesthesia or APP intubates at night. Average census 12-16 patients. Post-op cardiac and vascular, advanced heart failure, MCS and ECMO. 70-90 ECMO/yr. 24hr surgeon coverage for ECMO cannulations.
