Vehicle Acquisition Representative III - Kearny Mesa Subaru/Genesis Non-Exempt Job Summary: The Vehicle Acquisition Representative III is responsible for leading the vehicle acquisition efforts within the organization. This role involves strategic sourcing, negotiating high-value purchases, and managing relationships with key vendors and auction houses to ensure a robust inventory of quality vehicles. Essential Functions: Identify and develop acquisition strategies to source vehicles from various channels, including auctions, trade-ins, and private sellers, to meet inventory needs. Negotiate purchase agreements and pricing with vendors and sellers, ensuring favorable terms and maximum profitability. Conduct thorough market research and analysis to stay updated on trends, pricing, and competitor activities, informing acquisition strategies. Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, auction houses, and other dealerships to facilitate ongoing sourcing opportunities. Mentor and guide junior acquisition representatives and assistants, providing training and support to enhance their skills and performance. Oversee the evaluation process for potential acquisitions, including conducting inspections and assessing vehicle history and condition. Test drive vehicles to assess their condition. Maintain accurate records of acquisitions, prepare reports on inventory status and acquisition costs, and present findings to management. Ensure all acquisition activities comply with company policies and legal regulations. Maintain satisfactory attendance. Performs other related duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: None Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: 3- 5 years of experience in automotive acquisition, sales, or a related field, with a proven track record in sourcing and negotiating vehicle purchases. Strong understanding of the automotive market, including vehicle valuation, trends, and industry best practices. Valid driver’s license and safe driving record; required to have California driver's license within 10 days following date of hire. Ability to lift up to 15 pounds. Ability to perform all essential functions of the job description. Preferred Qualifications A minimum of one year of driving experience. Bachelor’s degree in business, automotive management, or a related field Experience managing and mentoring a team. Extensive understanding of the automotive market, including vehicle valuation, trends, and competitive dynamics. Familiarity with auction processes and best practices in vehicle procurement. Proficient in inventory management software, CRM systems, and data analysis tools, with advanced skills in Microsoft Excel. Demonstrated success in negotiating high-value purchases and contracts. Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities to assess market conditions and inform strategic decisions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information effectively to various stakeholders. Strong networking skills to build and maintain relationships within the automotive industry. Physical Demands: Frequently stands, walks, sits; uses hands; frequently reaches with hands and arms; frequently talks and hears. Occasionally climbs or balances; occasionally stoops, kneels, crouches, squats or crawls; occasionally lifts up to 15 pounds. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Environment/Noise: Typical dealership or repair shop environment, including noise, dust, and varying temperatures. May occasionally visit service bays or workshops to discuss vehicle issues with technicians. Many odors may be present. Noise moderate.
