Job Description Job Description Must be bilingual English/Spanish The Invasive Plant Management Crew Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of crew members. Communicate effectively and timely with manager/owner, crew members and office staff. Performing tasks involving physical labor on invasive plant management team. The person in this position may operate a variety of hand and power tools, clean and prepare sites, trim, cut and dig plants, dig trenches, install barriers, install mulch, clean up debris and remove waste materials, including loading trailers. The Crew Manager may assist crew members, crew leaders and manager/owner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: Working hard and effectively in fast-paced environments, while handling unexpected challenges. Recruiting, training and retaining crew members. Communicating job responsibilities and expectations clearly and adequately to crew members. Assigning work to employees, based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs. Maintaining open and honest communication with manager/owner, crew members, contractors and clients. Examining and inspecting work progress, equipment, and job sites to ensure job responsibilities and scope of projects are met. Evaluating jobs and small details to ensure work has been completed at a high level. Focusing on quality in all aspects of work. Reading job specific notes to determine job requirements or to plan and coordinate job activities. Estimating material or worker requirements to complete jobs. Requesting or purchasing approved tools, materials or supplies. Locating, measuring, and marking site locations or placement of equipment, materials or brush, using appropriate measuring and marking equipment. Performing and managing a variety of tasks and assigned work duties involving strenuous manual labor on outdoor projects and worksite. Maintaining a clean job site; picking up all tools and equipment and securing job site each day in order to eliminate potential hazards. Maintaining good working order of assigned equipment and teaching crew members to do the same. Directing, loading and unloading trucks and trailers, as well as material handling and storage. Reading and interpreting safety/employment manuals and other work-related documents. Complying with ALL safety regulations. Ensuring proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed; bringing problems to the attention of the Business Owner. Maintaining personal health and sanitation standards and ensuring crew members do the same. Evaluating processes with goal of improving. Conferring with manager, administrative/ office manager, crew members and contractors to resolve problems and coordinate activities. Recording information such as personnel, production, or operational data on or within specified forms, reports or applications. Working collaboratively with others to achieve a common goal. Sharing ideas and taking on different roles and responsibilities, while supporting and assisting team members as needed. Building trust and rapport with colleagues, communicating effectively, and being receptive to feedback. Approaching work with passion and energy and acting in ways that inspire others, promote positive attitudes, and drive success. Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities) Education: High school diploma or equivalent 5 - 7 years experience managing landscaping teams and ability to perform the work assigned to crew members Ownership mentality: think and act like it’s your business and your success depends on it Proper identification of invasive plants that are the focus of the work Knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies used in landscaping and ability to train crew members in their care, use and application Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule Ability to lift heavy objects, walk, stand, bend and kneel for long periods of time and perform strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions Ability to communicate orally and in writing at a high level Ability to use equipment and tools properly and safely Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency Demonstrating accountability for quality of work Company Description Small business located in Asheville, NC, working with home and land owners, HOAs, businesses and non-profits to mitigate the effects of invasive plants throughout WNC and Upstate SC WITHOUT chemicals.
