JOB DESCRIPTION: We have a Senior Mechanical Engineer position open in Orlando, FL.This position is responsible for mechanical engineering on large scale projects.Project requirements involving mechanical system design from scratch, analysis/calculations (stress/fatigue/etc.), acceleration forces, load calculations, material stress design, failure and effects analysis, risk assessment, component selection, mechanical system installation/commissioning. RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for system design from blank sheet of paper to create concept of mechanical components based on project requirementsExperience doing design via 3D modeling software (SolidWorks preferred)Provide input, and system modification as needed, for system integration with other project disciplinesManage vendor scope to verify safety, functionality, and all contract requirements are satisfied.Ensures design complies with any local or government agency design/implementation codes in addition to client codes/standards.Project technical risk assessment document generation and mitigation implementationDesign and analysis for safety critical parts within a mechanical system.Designing redundant mitigations in system to increase safety and reliability.Designing systems with complex motion and integration from automated systems.Develops documents of system configuration and design. Documents include Description of operation, Detailed mechanical system design description, analysis reports, system implementation/acceptance test plans, system routine maintenance/job plansAbility to design and troubleshoot pneumatic and hydraulic systemsAbility to perform system analysis/calculations including Stress, fatigue, reliability, life expectancy, tolerance studiesKnowledge of ride system design for attractions involving guests is preferredCapable of working off shifts as needed during installation/commissioning to support project. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be organized, technically competent, have effective oral and written communications, experienced in working in a multi-disciplined environment and interfacing with engineers, designers, and drafters.Education: Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering. (Bachelors degrees in other disciplines may be acceptable if work experience is directly related to mechanical engineering. Disciplines outside of the mechanical area will not be considered)Experience:10+ years of experience in mechanical engineering rolesAt least 3+ years of experience in mechanical design from scratch or major modifications (50+% redesign)Knowledge of techniques involving GD&T for large scale systems or systems with high duty cycle and fatigue requirementsExperience in ASTM standards, attractions industry, and safety engineering is preferredKey Competencies: Knowledge of contract documents and specifications. Ability to collect field data and accurately record findings. Ability to perform system design functions. Planning, Customer Focused, Timely Decision Making, Informing, Organizing, Priority Setting, Problem Solving.Skills: All employees are required to be proficient in the use of Microsoft Windows and Office environments.Travel: Ability to travel up to 30% worst case (10% worst case with last couple years of projects).Physical Demands: of Position Seeing, color perception, hearing, listening, clear speech, dexterity in hands, driving, lifting, climbing, ability to mount and dismount equipment, pushing, and pullingWorking Conditions: Expected on client location 5 days a week, Standard office environment, On-site office environment, and diverse industrial/construction environments. Frequent PC usage, copy machines, phones.
