Pacific Trailer Repair Services is hiring immediately for a Union Mechanic to Join or team at a Container Storage Facility in Oakland, CA in a recession-proof industry  Experience is required and the starting rate of pay is commensurate with experience.  You can expect to make $40,000+ in your 1st year. Work Location:PTRS Container Storage Facility1195A Middle Harbor Rd.Oakland, CA 94105Job SummaryThe successful candidate for this position will be responsible for inspecting and analyzing malfunctions, completing repairs and efficiently rebuilding chassis & trailer and container parts.We're hiring for the below shift:. 8 am-5 pm Monday through FridayOvertime is sometimes available.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the daily inspection of all trailers, containers, and chassis to ensure equipment is meeting safety standards under Federal Highway Administration standards.Able to dismantle, repair and reassemble landing gears, wheel axles, and brakes, this may include welding of broken parts.Ensures the electrical system is running efficiently.Accurately and legibly complete work orders.Completes all work orders in a timely and consistent manner.Technicians are required to wear Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), such as hearing protection, safety toe boots, safety glasses, protective hard hat, and welding leathers & goggles, when applicable.Maintains a clean and safe work environment.All other duties as assigned.Minimum QualificationsValid Drivers License, and dependable transportationAbility to pass all pre-employment screening requirements (background and drug test)Strong problem-solving skills.Welding experience is a plus.Must have a Federal Highway inspection Certificate (Preferred)DOT certified in FHWA Inspections & Air Brakes.
