New Build Marine Carpenter

Job Summary: The New Build Marine Carpenter plays a vital role in the construction of our custom sportfish yachts. The carpenter will be responsible for the fabrication and installation of custom yacht interiors and exteriors, including bulkheads, cabinetry, flooring, teak decking, and intricate joinery work. Precision, craftsmanship, and the ability to work within the unique constraints of a marine environment are essential. Key Responsibilities:Construct and install bulkheads, headliners, door jambs, and doors.Fabricate and fit custom cabinetry, furniture, trim, and moldings.Perform fine joinery work, including laminating wood veneers and Formica.Execute high-quality exterior carpentry, such as teak decking, covering boards, and transoms.Interpret and work from blueprints, renderings, and verbal descriptions.Utilize marine-grade materials and adhesives in all construction processes.Measure, cut, and assemble components with precision, ensuring tight fits and smooth finishes.Ensure adherence to safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized workspace. Qualifications:Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification in carpentry or a related field preferred.Experience: Minimum 1 year of marine or fine woodworking carpentry experience preferred but willing to learn welcomed.Expertise in selecting and working with marine-grade materials.Proficiency in various woodworking joints, including scarf, lap, finger, dovetail, mortise, miter, box, and bridle joints.Strong understanding of measurements, geometry, and layout techniques.Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.Familiarity with components such as stairs, partitions, subfloors, doors, trim, hardware, cabinetry, flooring, and teak decking.Skilled in the application of epoxy, vinyl ester resins, adhesives, bonding agents, and finishes.Comfortable working with both traditional and modern woodworking tools and machinery. Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:Work is performed in a marine and industrial environment with exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and varying weather conditions.May involve working in confined spaces, at heights, or in awkward positions.Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.Requires frequent standing, walking, bending, climbing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.Requires the use of hand tools, power tools, and equipment.Occasional overtime and weekend work may be necessary. Benefits:Paid time off and paid holidays.Health, dental, vision, life, and accident insurance available.Short- and long-term disability insurance available.401(k) with company match available.  Schedule:Full-time, 10-hour day shift, Monday to Thursday.Overtime available.Exempt Status: Non-Exempt HourlyJob Location: Stuart, FL Pre-Employment Requirements: All applicants must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check as a condition of employment. Equal Opportunity Statement: Willis Custom Yachts is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate against any employee or applicant for employment based on race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state, or local laws.
