Overview

The position is located at the Sugarland Campus in Sugarland, TX. Salary is commensurate with experience/education. Under general supervision, the lead works with security officers and performs regular security duties. The role requires maintaining security of University infrastructure, including review of criminal history for foreign adversary connections.

Responsibilities
  • Perform security officer duties and lead work of assigned security officers.
  • Patrol assigned areas to check for criminal activity, rule violations, and irregularities.
  • Investigate and report hazards, unusual or suspicious circumstances to campus police unit as needed.
  • Coordinate and monitor work activities of field security officers at particular locations.
  • Monitor shift activity and make recommendations for adjustments in shift assignments as needed.
  • Train new security officers or other personnel and provide ongoing work leadership.
  • Perform other job?related duties assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of three (3) years directly job?related experience.
  • Valid Texas Drivers License.
  • Basic knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, and simple mathematical functions.
  • Daily computer use required; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Criminal History Check and valid TX Drivers License check prior to interview.
  • Background Investigation prior to employment.
  • Pre?employment drug screening.

Physical & Environmental Demands

Physical demands include working in a law?enforcement setting, restraining or subduing individuals, walking, standing, sitting, or running for extended periods, occasionally stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, twisting, climbing, and balancing; operating specialized law?enforcement tools and equipment.

Environmental demands include exposure to inclement weather, extensive public contact with students, faculty, and staff, requiring various shifts (days, evenings, nights, weekends), possible extended post duty, and mandatory presence during inclement weather.
