We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Application Engineer, Controls, to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing technical support and expertise in the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of Schneider Electric PowerSCADA and Inductive Ignition systems. This role involves working closely with contractors and clients to understand their needs, troubleshoot issues, and ensure the successful implementation of our solutions.
Minimum RequirementsEducation: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, with emphasis on control systems, Computer Science or Software Engineering or equivalent experience.
Experience: 3+ years experience related to SCADA commissioning, Electrical Power Monitoring Systems; Building Automation Systems and/or Systems Integration. Experience with electrical fundamentals as well as with electrical equipment.
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving history.
- Experience working around electrical equipment such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, etc.
- Thorough understanding of power generation, power distribution, and power quality concepts.
- Good understanding of industry-standard communication protocols with an emphasis on Modbus, IEC 61850, RS485, and BACnet.
- Knowledgeable in computer networking architectures, topologies, and hardware.
- Knowledgeable in computer programming languages (Visual Basic, C/C++, Java, Python, etc.), databases (SQL), and HTML development.
- HMI configuration experience, including graphical screen development.
- Direct experience with software such as Power Monitoring Expert, Power SCADA Expert, and Inductive Ignition.
Travel: 75%
Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 6 am to 6 pm, Monday through Friday. May vary based on customer demands and can include, but is not limited to: nights, weekends, and holidays. The ability to work a flexible schedule is necessary.
Key Responsibilities- Focus on the deployment of Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) at data center facilities.
- Customer-facing position - the successful candidate must work well in a team environment and will interface directly with contractors and end-users daily.
- Responsibilities for this position include performing software installation, customization, and start-up services; start-up, commissioning, and troubleshooting of electrical power monitoring equipment; device communications; and providing customer training for the commissioned system.
- Consulting with customers to determine system operation requirements.
- Installation and upgrading of EPMS software.
- Installing, configuring, commissioning Schneider Electric, Induction software and 3rd party hardware.
- Performing start-up services and system troubleshooting.
- Documenting the as-built system. Ability to technically troubleshoot network communications (IP Addresses and being able to find devices on a network).
- Interpret contract specifications and electrical (or mechanical) drawings.
- Work effectively in a group setting, team-oriented, self-motivated, and results-driven.
- Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
