Job Description

A Systems Analyst develops applications; implements software packages, integrates applications, and provides 24x7 application support. Collaborates on all phases of the software development life?cycle (SDLC) with a focus on application design, development, and implementation.

Advancement is based on value added and performance, not only tenure.

Working Conditions

Most work is performed in an office environment, but occasional travel to operating locations may be required.

Roles & Responsibilities
Level 2 Systems Analyst
  • Develop software of moderate complexity based on specifications.
  • Implement software packages requiring moderate configuration and integration; may interact with vendor resources remotely or onsite.
  • Integrate applications with moderately complex interfaces based on specifications.
  • Provide 24x7 primary and/or secondary support for niche, core, or mission?critical applications.
  • Support request and analysis phases of SDLC by producing required documentation and estimates with review by senior staff.
  • Execute design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC producing deliverables reviewed by senior staff.
  • Participate on Application Development and Support team and on project teams; may act as technical lead on small projects.
  • Acquire and maintain knowledge of relevant business areas, application support assignments, and appropriate technical skills.
Level 3 Senior Systems Analyst
  • Develop complex software based on specifications; collaborate with Business Systems Analysts or Business Partners to define specifications.
  • Implement software packages with in-depth configuration and integration; drive substantial interaction with vendor resources.
  • Integrate applications with complex interfaces based on specifications.
  • Provide 24x7 primary and/or secondary support for niche, core, or mission?critical applications.
  • Support request and analysis phases of SDLC, producing required documentation and estimates; review deliverables from junior staff.
  • Execute design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC producing deliverables; review deliverables from junior staff.
  • Participate on Application Development and Support team and on project teams under manager or project managers; may function as technical lead on any project.
  • Acquire and maintain relevant business area knowledge; mentor junior staff; drive standard practices within the team.
Level 4 Systems Analyst Consultant
  • Lead complex software development projects; collaborate with Business Systems Analysts or Business Partners to develop specifications.
  • Lead selection and implementation of software packages requiring in-depth configuration and integration; drive substantial vendor interaction.
  • Lead integration of applications with complex interfaces based on specifications.
  • Provide 24x7 primary and/or secondary support for niche, core, or mission?critical applications; coordinate maintenance activities including release schedules.
  • Support request and analysis phases of SDLC, producing required documentation and estimates; oversee and manage deliverables from junior staff.
  • Execute design, development, and implementation phases of SDLC; oversee deliverables from junior staff.
  • Participate on Application Development and Support team and on project teams; act as technical lead on projects and oversee technical staff; may lead multiple concurrent projects.
  • Serve as subject?matter expert in multiple business areas; mentor and direct junior staff; provide feedback to manager regarding staff performance; drive standard practices.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Information/Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems or equivalent. Bachelors can be considered with additional years of related experience.
  • Licenses/Certifications: Preferred: at least one professional certification in a job?related discipline (two or more for Level?4).
  • Related Experience Level?2: Minimum?2?years in systems analysis, design, and development (or high?school diploma plus?4+ additional years).
  • Preferred Level?2: 4?years of experience.
  • Related Experience Level?3: Minimum?6?years (or high?school plus?4+ additional years). Prefer 8?years.
  • Related Experience Level?4: Minimum?10?years (or high?school plus?4+ additional years). Prefer 12?years.
  • Required Knowledge/Skills: Working knowledge of business software applications and hardware technologies; current with industry trends. Strong verbal, written, analytical, and interpersonal skills; ability to present information. Understanding of project plans and ability to articulate role, goals, and timelines. Knowledge of development tools and technologies supporting IT architecture. Proficient with Microsoft Office. (Level?specific extensions: mentoring, advanced design, leadership.)
