Purchasing Specialist

We are looking for an experienced Purchasing Specialist to oversee procurement activities on behalf of our long-standing client. This role is vital in maintaining optimal inventory levels, negotiating favorable vendor agreements, and supporting key business objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to supplier management. Responsibilities include:

  • Create and manage purchase orders with accuracy, ensuring pricing, quantities, and delivery schedules align with business needs.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors to secure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Monitor supplier performance and participate in regular evaluations to address issues and improve outcomes.
  • Collaborate with warehouse teams to ensure timely receipt of goods and resolve any discrepancies in quantity or quality.
  • Coordinate with sales, operations, and finance teams to align procurement strategies with business objectives.
  • Analyze market trends, product availability, and freight costs to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Maintain detailed purchasing records, pricing lists, and an organized vendor database for accurate reporting.
  • Communicate inventory updates and purchasing data to senior management to support decision-making processes.
  • Address and resolve vendor-related issues such as backorders, pricing errors, and delivery delays.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and ethical guidelines in all procurement activities.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management.
  • Strong negotiation skills with the ability to secure favorable terms and conditions.
  • Excellent analytical abilities to evaluate market trends and supplier performance.
  • Proficiency in inventory management and maintaining accurate purchasing records.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with vendors and internal teams.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards related to environmental and safety regulations.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Competence in working with procurement software and tools.
