Maintenance Technician

Maintenance Technician Responsibilities:

  • Create and follow maintenance standard operating procedures for assigned machines
  • Visually inspect and test machinery and equipment
  • Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunctions and discuss machine operation variations with supervisors and other maintenance workers to diagnose problems and repair equipment
  • Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts
  • Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery
  • Layout, assemble, install and maintain pipe and air systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment, and repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment
  • Work with the maintenance department to order fabrication of machine parts, jigs & fixtures, blades, and tools needed to maintain assigned equipment
  • Operate cutting torch or welding equipment to cut or join metal parts

Requirements for Maintenance Technician:

  • Certification from a technical school or related experience and training in a manufacturing environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Intermediate computer skills required
  • Previous forklift certification with the ability to re-certify to PPC standards
  • Intermediate electrical experience preferred
  • Able to multi-task with above-average attention to detail and self-organize and prioritize responsibilities
  • Able to work independently to reach goals and partner with internal teams as well as vendors to meet department requirements
  • Able to obtain and maintain proficient knowledge of and capability with all computer systems and software required to perform essential functions
