REI Funding Partners is a private lending business located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The company serves real estate investors across the state with short?term financing primarily for renovation projects. In business since 2011, the company has $16MM AUM and, thanks to continued growth, is seeking to add an in?office team member to its 9?person group.

Role Overview

We have an immediate opening for a results?driven Accounting Specialist who thrives on accuracy, accountability, and completion. In this role, you will take ownership of financial integrity across the organization, ensuring systems run smoothly, processes are completed on time, and the team stays aligned to clear standards and outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Drive the month?end and year?end close processes to completion, ensuring all entries, reconciliations, and reports are accurate and timely.
  • Review and approve monthly bank reconciliations and verify completion by the bookkeeper.
  • Prepare and deliver monthly financial reportsP&L, balance sheet, and budget summariesto keep leadership informed and proactive.
  • Analyze variances against budget and communicate insights that drive better decisions.
  • Coordinate with the external CPA to ensure all returns and filings are accurate and submitted on time.
  • Verify, distribute, and file 1098 and 1099 forms annually.
  • Oversee customer invoicing, track payments, and follow through on collections.
  • Confirm settlement statement accuracy and validate wire instructions before closing.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, track lines of credit, and reconcile funds quickly after transactions.
  • Maintain complete and current W?9s for all borrowers and co?lenders.
  • Process borrower payments and draws, prepare payoff statements, and coordinate with title companies for payoffs and wires.
  • Generate and issue late notices, foreclosure letters, and other borrower communications as needed.
  • Administer loan extensions and ensure documentation is accurate and complete.
  • Report weekly, monthly, and annual KPIs related to accounting performance.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting cycles; prepare spreadsheets that drive clarity and planning.
  • Refine and enforce accounting policies and SOPs for consistency and accountability.
  • Champion accounting system upgrades and drive adoption across the team.
Ideal Candidate

  • Has experience with an SMB company size of $510M annual revenue.
  • Understands lending/real?estate or is interested in learning this expertise.
  • Has an Accounting or Finance degree with an accounting background.
  • Has a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificationthis is a plus but not required.
  • Has excellent MS Excel skills (and MS Office in general).
