Position Overview:The Product Manager for Starfire Direct will own the full lifecycle of the product line, from concept and material sourcing to certification, product development, and go-to-market execution. This role is critical to building Starfire Direct into a successful, market-leading brand and requires a mix of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and entrepreneurial drive. Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Development & ManagementOwn Starfire Direct product roadmap and lifecycle.Lead development of new products, improvements, and line extensions.Ensure all products meet functional, quality, and aesthetic standards.Collaborate with design, engineering, and manufacturing to bring products from concept to production.Certification & ComplianceObtain and maintain necessary industry certifications, including fire safety certifications.Ensure products comply with all relevant safety, regulatory, and quality standards.Partner with testing labs and certifying agencies to ensure timely compliance.Sourcing & Supply ChainSource materials and components for Starfire Direct products.Build relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and reliability.Manage vendor selection, pricing negotiation, and supply chain logistics.Market Strategy & Customer FocusUnderstand target customers and market trends; define product positioning.Gather and analyze customer feedback to guide product improvements.Collaborate with marketing and sales to create go-to-market plans and support product launches.Ownership & LeadershipBe the driving force behind Starfire Directs success.Make data-driven decisions and report progress on KPIs such as revenue, margins, product performance, and customer satisfaction.Grow into a key thought leader and owner of the brand, guiding both strategic and operational decisions. Qualifications & Experience37+ years in product management, preferably in consumer products, furniture, or home/garden categories.Hands-on experience with product development, material sourcing, and supply-chain management.Familiarity with fire safety regulations and certification processes; ability to become certified in relevant fire standards.Strong project management skills; capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions independently.Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work cross-functionally.Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for building products and brands.Preferred:Experience with direct-to-consumer (DTC) brands or e-commerce product lines.Background in sourcing raw materials or manufacturing furniture, fire pits, or outdoor living products. KPIs & Success MetricsProduct launch timelines and success rates.Compliance and certification milestones achieved on schedule.Cost-of-goods and margin targets met.Customer satisfaction and product performance metrics.Contribution to Starfire Directs revenue growth and brand recognition. Physical Activities:Daily activity includes but is not limited to:Lifting, carrying, sitting, grasping, reaching, standing, kneeling, walking, bending, twisting.Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Reading, communication, math.Must be able to lift and move up to 50lbs. regularly, unassisted, (handling prototypes, samples, or packaging materials).Extended periods of standing or walking in manufacturing, warehouse, or trade-show environments.Manual inspection of products, materials, or samples for quality control.Travel to suppliers, manufacturing sites, trade shows, or certification labs (up to 50% domestic and occasionally overseas).Work EnvironmentCombination of office, warehouse, and manufacturing floor environments.Exposure to typical materials (wood, metal, fabrics) and occasional fire-safety testing environments.Use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, printers) and safety equipment in manufacturing/inspection areas as needed. Compensation and Benefits:Hourly: Competitive hourly pay (non-exempt) commensurate with experience.
