Maintenance Technician

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring all assigned maintenance work and scheduled PM's are completed in a timely fashion, under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor.
Major responsibilities and tasks/duties of the position include:
- Assisting work group in troubleshooting, operating, and maintaining production systems and facilities systems including refrigeration equipment, boilers, fire systems, HVAC equipment, wastewater, compressed air equipment, vacuum pump system, high voltage switch gear, and all production equipment. Leading root cause and lean exercises to impact production uptime and quality.
- Championing the site safety objectives through leadership and effective communications. Assisting Site Leadership and Safety Management Representative in the implementation of any safety related projects, upgrades, or improvements. Ensuring there exists within the maintenance team an attitude of absolute intolerance for unsafe situations.
- Assisting work group to implement and monitor an effective PM program and monitor the program on existing equipment and new equipment acquisitions. Ensuring that work orders and work assignments are completed in a timely fashion by the maintenance department.
- Maintaining good human relations skills, communication skills, and leadership qualities with supervisors, peers, and subordinates.
- Directing, coordinating, and managing scheduled maintenance and machine changeovers in conjunction with scheduled production.
- Assisting group in developing and meeting training needs and developing overall programs to upgrade operating and maintenance skills and effectiveness.
- Maintaining dialogue with counterparts at other Dole facilities to benefit from experiences and design proposals.
- Following all food safety requirements and GMP's guidelines.
Required skills:
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a technical or maintenance role, preferably in food manufacturing or consumer goods industry.
- Strong technical skills.
- Knowledge of food processing and manufacturing technology.
- Basic knowledge of maintenance technologies and operation of utilities.
- Knowledge of food safety, regulatory requirements for food safety and hygienic engineering (OSH&R).
- Strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and relationship-building skills.
- Knowledge of Asset and Maintenance Management (AMM) and Industrial Services and Energy Management (NEMT).
- Ability to troubleshoot complex systems/problems.
- Ability to report to work promptly and regularly, work under the supervision of others, at times under stressful conditions, work within deadlines, and be able to work professionally with others at all times and in all situations.
Physical requirements:
- Must have the ability to maneuver around an array of equipment. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, climb ladders and/or stairs.
- Will have some exposure to fumes and airborne particles.
- Must be able to work in a cold and wet environment.
Work hour & travel requirements:
- Ability to work various shifts as needed.
- Must have the ability to work overtime and weekends.
Pay rate: $23.37 - $32.00 Hourly
