General Purpose

Retail Associate and Seasonal Retail Sales Associate ensure a positive shopping experience by greeting customers, maintaining a clean and organized store, following company best?practice standards, and supporting operational goals. The role may include additional tasks as business needs require.

Essential Functions

• Prioritise safety and practice safe behaviours.
• Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor; provide clear egress to emergency exits and report unsafe conditions.
• Treat all customers and associates with respect and courtesy; greet customers with eye contact, smile, and polite verbal acknowledgement.
• Assist customers at the register, help with merchandise, and answer questions in a knowledgeable manner.
• Respond promptly to customer service calls and handle issues courteously; involve store leadership when necessary.
• Represent the Ross brand consistently.
• Perform cleaning duties (sweeping, mopping, dusting, wiping counters, replenishing restroom supplies) to maintain merchandise, customer, and team areas.
• Adhere to the company dress code and present a professional appearance.
• Carry out daily sizing, recovery, and merchandising per best?practice guidelines.
• Expedite new merchandise receipts to the sales floor, merchandise all items per monthly presentation guidelines.
• Understand Loss Prevention Awareness, the Shortage Highway and merchandising protection standards.
• Maintain integrity and confidentiality of information, cash and credit card details, and merchandise.
• Follow Mark?Out?of?Stock policies and dispose of merchandise in accordance with store leadership approval.
• Follow cash, check, charge?card, refund, and void policies.
• Demonstrate a sense of urgency and maximise productivity by executing best practices and minimising steps.

Qualifications and Special Skills Required

• Effectively communicate with customers, associates and store leadership.
• Perform basic mathematical calculations used in retail.
  

Physical Requirements / ADA

• Operate store equipment, PDTs, registers and PCs.
• Stand, walk and move around the store full?time.
• Bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach and stoop regularly.
• Push, pull and lift >25?lbs occasionally.
• Operate janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders.
• Stockroom shifts may require pushing, pulling and lifting >20?lbs.
