Foundation & Drainage Engineer (On-Site)

At BEAR Engineering, we provide independent, objective, and data-driven inspections of foundations, drainage systems, seismic risks, and retaining walls for homeowners and real estate transactions, both on-site and remotely.

This is a unique engineering opportunity where you will interact with a diverse clientele who need expert evaluations of foundation and drainage conditions, often within tight timelines. Our clients include home buyers who are assessing properties and homeowners experiencing concerning signs of structural issues. The variety of construction styles and ages, along with challenging soil conditions like hillsides, reclaimed land, and expansive soils, ensures every inspection is a new adventure.

You will analyze existing reports and data—such as geotechnical reports, design drawings, and structural calculations—to make informed observations and apply your engineering judgment to identify potential causes of issues, safety hazards, and solution options tailored to each client's budget and priorities. This role offers a unique application of engineering judgment where you will work with limited data points to create a comprehensive understanding of the situation.

Every home is distinct, and this role allows you to engage daily with a wide variety of individuals, from agents to homeowners, enriching your professional experience. It’s immensely rewarding to assist individuals in understanding and safeguarding one of their most valuable assets.

Minimum Requirements

  • Civil Engineering Degree (or similar)
  • EIT or PE certification
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse personalities
  • Willingness to work in various environments, including crawlspaces, and physically engage in the work
