Job Summary:

Role Overview:

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) will implement specialized treatment plans designed to assist patients facing physical, cognitive, sensory, and social/emotional challenges by providing in-home and community-based occupational therapy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality care tailored to meet the unique needs of patients and their families by implementing prescribed occupational therapy treatment plans under the guidance of the supervising occupational therapist.
  • Support pediatric and young adult patients in key developmental areas including physical, neurological, cognitive, sensory, feeding, activities of daily living (ADLs), and social/emotional skills to enhance their independence through engaging interventions.
  • Educate and empower caregivers and family members, equipping them with the skills needed to integrate therapeutic activities into the child's everyday life.
  • Ensure continuity of care post-discharge by designing and instructing patients and families on home exercise programs to uphold therapeutic gains.
  • Accurately document patient care services and coordination in a user-friendly electronic medical record system.
  • Safeguard patient confidentiality by managing information with discretion.

Qualifications:

  • Current state licensing as an occupational therapy assistant is required.
  • Prior experience in an occupational therapy setting is preferred.
  • CPR certification.
  • Excellent customer service skills paired with a positive attitude.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective time management capabilities.
  • The ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
