POSITION TITLE:

School Bus Driver

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum high school diploma or GED required.
• Must hold current bus driver's credentials for Alabama.
• Must pass ALSDE background check.
• Previous experience of driving a bus or similar vehicle is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of traffic laws, safety protocols and bus routing
• Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain prolonged periods of seated attention and concentration on the road.
• Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders.
• Submit to random drug testing.

JOB GOAL:

To ensure the safety and efficient transportation of students to and from school and related activities by strictly adhering to all traffic laws while fostering a positive and friendly atmosphere for all passengers.

Superintendent or Transportation Supervisor

SUPERVISES:

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operates school buses in a safe and efficient manner.
• Conducts thorough Inspection of the vehicle before and after each trip to verify that the bus is in safe operating condition.
• Reports any mechanical issues to the Transportation Supervisor or Superintendent.
• Follows predetermined routes and schedules to transport students.
• Ensures timely arrival and departure of all scheduled stops.
• Maintains a positive and respectful environment, addressing any behavioral issues appropriately.
• Conducts emergency drills and ensures students are familiar with safety procedures.
• Addresses emergencies promptly, including health-related incidents or vehicle breakdowns.
• Maintains accurate records of daily routes, student attendance, and or incidents.
• Communicates effectively with school personnel, parents, and students.
• Reports student behavior issues to school authorities as needed.
• Performs all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or the designee.
