QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of a Master's Degree in Social Work or Counseling and possessing either a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) credential is required. Previous experience working with young children is preferred. However, on-the-job training and continuous exposure to working specifically with children aged 6 and under will be provided. Candidates must be willing to travel to families' locations.

EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's level licensed mental health treatment experience with children and families, or relevant experience as part of a master's degree internship program is required.

AGENCY SUMMARY: Applewood Centers is a private, nonprofit agency dedicated to providing mental health services, social services, and educational support to children, adolescents, and families in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties. Our focus is on addressing emotional, behavioral, and learning challenges through a continuum of care that ranges from outpatient counseling to residential treatment.

POSITION SUMMARY: At Applewood Centers, we recognize the importance of early intervention for healthy emotional, social, and academic development in children and families. Our Infant & Early Childhood Mental Health (IECMH) program serves children up to age 6 experiencing significant stress, trauma, or behavioral challenges, which may impact parenting and child care environments. We are seeking an Early Childhood Mental Health Therapist to provide essential behavioral health counseling, assessments, and therapeutic services to these families in need.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Deliver psychotherapy, TBS, and consultation services based on assessed client needs.
• Conduct client interviews to gather necessary information for maintaining effective records and developing Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs).
• Utilize a strengths-focused approach to build professional relationships and engage with families.
• Collaborate with families to create ITPs that reflect their identified needs.
• Assist in crisis planning and provide necessary crisis support and coaching.
• Guide clients in developing skills to enhance family functioning, including relationship improvement, anger management, and coping strategies.
• Meet productivity expectations for community-based therapy staff.
• Provide support to child care staff and parents as needed.
• Timely case closures and completion of discharge and aftercare plans, following agency guidelines.
• Form collaborative relationships with natural supports and professionals regarding individual cases.
• Advocate for clients to secure necessary resources and services.
• Maintain professionalism and ethical standards in all interactions with clients and families.
• Complete all required documentation accurately and within set timeframes.
• Be flexible with scheduling, including availability for evening appointments.
