Swim instruction is the best part-time job available. Not only are we participating in the formation of foundational memories for dozens of children in the local community, but we’re also teaching them skills that could one day save their lives. When working with children, it’s of the utmost importance that you present a calm, knowing demeanor, and have confidence in any instructions you give. These traits will serve you well in the future, no matter what kind of work you may end up doing.
A Path to Full-Time Work: While this may only be a part-time job for you at first, aquatics represents a multi-billion dollar global industry with full-time positions all over the country. A part-time job at Leaps & Bounds can lead to salaried career opportunities elsewhere as a:
Swim team coach
Swim school manager or supervisor
Lifeguard/CPR trainer
Pool maintenance worker
Personal Fitness trainer
Childcare worker
Classroom teacher
Although we’re just getting started, we hope to offer some full-time swim instructor positions to our staff in the near future
Life is always unpredictable, but wherever you may find yourself in the coming years, there will always be a demand for workers who can teach swimming.
STARTING PAY:
$9.50-$10.50
REQUIREMENTS:
Valid CPR Certification (we connect new staff with a certification course)
A love for kids
A love for the water, and the ability to swim confidently
According to the CDC, drowning is the #1 cause of accidental death among children ages 1-4, and this number only drops to #2 by the age of 14. Additionally, 46% of American adults are afraid to go in swimming pools deeper than they can stand.
