Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director of the Student Recreation Center, the Intramural and Camp Coordinator is a dynamic and multifaceted role responsible for the comprehensive oversight, leadership, and daily operation of both the university's Intramural Sports program and the Titan Youth Summer Camp. This position encompasses strategic program development and implementation, meticulous financial and personnel management, effective risk mitigation, and dedicated facility supervision. The Coordinator plays a critical role in fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging recreational environment, contributing to the holistic development of students and campers while aligning with the core values and broader mission of Associated Students Inc., CSUF, and the University.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Management & Operations

  • Oversee all aspects of league, individual/dual, and tournament sports activities within Intramural Sports.
  • Lead and manage the daily operation of the Titan Youth Summer Camp.
  • Establish and enforce policies and procedures for the effective operation of both Intramural Sports and Summer Camp departments.
  • Responsible for the effective delivery, evaluation, and reporting of Intramural Sports and Summer Camp programs, including but not limited to:
    • League, tournament, and event scheduling and implementation.
    • Program registration.
    • Equipment procurement, inventory, repair, and replacement.
    • Field/court preparation and inspection.
    • Participant development and discipline.
  • Prepare, present, and implement short and long-term goals for both departments.
  • Develop and prepare reports of relevant data for the Director, such as program usage, Summer Camp registration, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide support to the Director and the Titan Recreation Team in the development and implementation of special programs, events, and projects.
Staff Leadership & Development
  • Provide leadership for the Intramural Sports and Titan Youth Summer Camp departments.
  • Responsible for personnel management of all Intramural Sports and Summer Camp staff, including recruitment, selection, training, evaluation, development, and discipline.
    • This includes the direct management and supervision of the following positions:
      • Intramural and Camp Graduate Assistant
      • Intramural Leaders (4)
      • Intramural Officials (30+)
      • Intramural Assistants (20+)
      • Titan Youth Sports Camp Lead Counselors (5+)
      • Titan Youth Sports Camp Counselors (35+)
  • Directly responsible for the training and supervision of up to 40 camp counselors for the Titan Youth Summer Camp. This training includes mandated reporting, conflict resolution, management of minors, and emergency action plan training.
  • Responsible for student staff development, including mentorship, leadership, and assisting students with their academic and professional growth.
  • Coordinate and conduct monthly student staff meetings and safety training meetings.
  • Assist with Titan Recreation all-staff trainings.
Facility Supervision & Risk Management
  • Provide evening facility supervision of the Student Recreation Center during the academic year.
  • Review and evaluate Intramural and Summer Camp operations to ensure appropriate risk management precautions and procedures are in place or developed.
  • Ensure departmental and facility compliance with risk management requirements of Associated Students, CSUF, Inc. (ASI), the California State University (CSU) system, and California State University, Fullerton (CSUF), including the effective management of participant waiver and assumption of risk documents.
  • Teach First Aid, CPR/AED classes.
Financial Management
  • Responsible for the preparation, presentation, and implementation of the Intramural Sports and Summer Camp department budget(s), including managing and meeting expense and revenue goals.
Collaboration & University Engagement
  • Support ASI's Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plan in all programming, services, and interactions.
  • Meet regularly with other Student Recreation Center personnel to ensure effective ongoing communication and coordination between departments.
  • Participate in campus-wide collaborations that serve the overall mission of Titan Recreation, the Student Recreation Center, ASI, and the University as a whole.
  • Serve on campus boards and committees as well as system-wide associations.

This role has the authority to perform or effectively recommend the following functions for the employees listed above:
  • Make decisions on hiring, terminating, or effectively recommend such actions.

  • Reward or discipline employees, including issuing written warnings, or making recommendations for promotions or disciplinary action.

  • This role is held accountable for the performance of the employees they supervise and if employees under the coordinator's supervision have performance failures, that may lead to a negative impact on the coordinator's employment with ASI.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology, Recreation, sports management, or related field.
  • 2-3 years of progressive management and/or supervisory responsibilities related to the position.
Preferred Education and Experience:
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Experience in university recreation is preferred.
  • Experience in providing customer service to a diverse population is preferred
