Job Summary:
The Physical Therapist is responsible for delivering individualized physical therapy services including assessment, treatment planning, implementation, education, and communication to help patients achieve their functional goals. The therapist works collaboratively with other healthcare professionals and ancillary staff to ensure high-quality patient care and optimal rehabilitation outcomes. The Physical Therapist will support primarily outpatient with some inpatient needs.
Minimum Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in physical therapy from a program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience as a Physical Therapist in a supervised clinical setting within the last three years
- Current and valid Physical Therapist license to practice in the state
- CPR certification preferred (may be required by facility)
- Provide direct patient care and evaluate functional needs and outcomes
- Develop, implement, and revise individualized plans of care based on assessments and patient progress
- Consult and collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive treatment plans
- Direct the activities of physical therapy support staff to help patients achieve rehabilitation goals
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, techniques, and home exercises
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of assessments, treatment goals, progress notes, and discharge plans
- Participate in discharge planning and make appropriate recommendations
- Maintain professional standards of practice and comply with state, federal, and facility policies and regulations
- Stay current with trends, research, and best practices in the field of physical therapy
- Assist in community outreach and education regarding physical therapy services
- Maintain a positive and professional image of the organization
- Promote a culture of safety by identifying and addressing safety risks and adhering to safety policies
- Uphold hospital standards for cleanliness and a quiet healing environment
- Maintain competence and knowledge in relevant standards of care and clinical best practices
- Adhere to infection control policies, medication handling procedures, and confidentiality protocols
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and educational activities
- Demonstrate excellent customer service consistent with the organization's mission, vision, and values
- Ability to care for the physical and developmental needs of a wide range of patient populations
- Remain calm and perform effectively in emergency or high-stress situations
- Frequent standing and walking, as well as lifting, positioning, pushing, and transferring patients
- Frequent bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and crouching
- Manual dexterity and physical strength required for therapeutic interventions and patient mobility
- Potential exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, and bodily fluids
- Exposure to various physical demands and workplace hazards typical of a clinical or rehabilitation setting
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as needed
