Position Summary: As a Patient Care Assistant, you will perform activities that assist patients in meeting their basic needs and daily activities under the direction of an RN or LPN. Your role will include enhancing patient care, ensuring effective communication, and maintaining a safe, clean environment.
Education/Certification Requirements:
- High School graduate or equivalent
- Completion of a certified nursing assistant program is preferred, but not required
- Active Certified Nurse Assistant certification required upon hire
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification is mandatory upon hire or within the new employee introductory period
Competencies: Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer skills are necessary.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (Note: These duties and responsibilities may evolve over time.)
- Deliver compassionate patient care that addresses physical and psychosocial needs within your scope of practice.
- Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Report any changes in patient status or observed needs to the appropriate licensed personnel.
- Collect and document data as per protocols.
- Ensure patient safety and enhance positive outcomes in your care delivery.
- Exhibit flexibility and organization, even in stressful situations.
- Communicate clearly with team leaders, coworkers, and other health care professionals.
- Safely transport patients as needed within the facility.
- Perform specific clinical duties as assigned, including but not limited to, monitoring vitals, patient transport, and assisting with medical equipment.
