Position Details:
Medical Technologist- St Petersburg, FL
Location : St Petersburg, FL 33710
Project Duration : Full time/ Permanent
Salary : $27/hr. - $32/hr.
Shift Differential : 3rd shift schedules (with rotating weekends- 11:30P-7:00A)
Job Summary:
Seeking a hospital based Medical Technologist to provide expertise and champion results. We are an amazing team that works hard to support each other and are seeking a phenomenal addition like you who feels the patient experience is as meaningful as we do.
Job Requirements:
- Perform accurate and timely laboratory testing and analyze proficiency testing samples according to instructions and complete within the allowable time frame
- Assume responsibility of the department as appropriate in the absence of the supervisor
- Complete all required records/documentation pertaining to patient results
- Perform stat procedures within established turnaround time targets
- Demonstrate the ability to use good judgment and independent thinking in the correlation and interpretation of patient results. (Including performing delta checks, etc.)
- Review pending logs (OSR) and result logs; resolve any outstanding workload or communicate to staff relief
- Take pertinent corrective action when the patient, quality control, standard, calibration and/or proficiency results are not within appropriate guidelines
- Associate's Degree/ Bachelors is required
- A 4 yr Bachelors Degree in Med technology is preferred
- A State of Florida Medical Technologist License is required
- Licensure in one or more clinical specialty areas: (Generalist highly preferred): Blood bank, Serology, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology
- Medical Technologist experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
- MUST HAVE recent blood bank experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist in a clinical or reference lab setting is preferred but new graduates are welcome to apply.
- A State of Florida Medical Technologist License is required. Generalist license (all areas) is required but we will consider applicants licensed in 3 or more of the following areas:
- Blood bank
- Serology
- Chemistry
- Hematology
- Microbiology
