Principal Software Engineer/Developer

Position Description:
Develops cloud-native financial services platforms using modern technologies. Designs and implements multi-tier, multi-threaded software applications, translating divisional initiatives into effective business solutions. Utilizes tools such as Java/J2EE, Spring/Spring Boot, RESTful Services, Python, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud, Kubernetes, and Angular, Test and Deployment technologies for application development and troubleshooting. Enhances the company's cloud infrastructure with AWS EKS/ECS and managed solutions like Lambda, SQS, EC2, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM roles/policies. Delivers high-quality, timely, efficient, and maintainable software solutions in an Agile environment, meeting both functional and non-functional business requirements. Improves engineering practices, including code and design reviews, source control strategy, environment strategy, test automation, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to management teams.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application-level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing scalable and high throughput enterprise level services and middle tier streaming applications using Java, Python, Rest and Serverless APIs, AWS Cloud, and Big Data in a Microservice architecture.
Or, alternatively, Master's degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing scalable and high throughput enterprise level services and middle tier streaming applications using Java, Python, Rest and Serverless APIs, AWS Cloud, and Big Data in a Microservice architecture.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise ("DE") analyzing, architecting, modeling, designing, and developing scalable, resilient, high performing, and secured enterprise software applications using J2EE, Spring Boot, Python, APIs, and Cloud Computing (AWS) in DevOps integrated environments (Git, Jenkins, and Docker).
- DE performing data model design, implementing batch processing and workflow and process automation on web user interfaces and event-driven architectures using Angular, AWS Server Less Architecture, EKS, Kafka, Snowflake, and DynamoDB.
- DE building, testing, deploying, tuning, and monitoring cloud-based digital solutions using Terraform, IAM Roles/Policies, KMS, Datadog, Jenkins, Sonar Cube, and Testing Automation Frameworks (Cucumber).
- DE performing requirements gathering, analysis, and solutioning by providing technical design and documentation, coordinating development and deployment, and providing support for ongoing maintenance of multi-tier software applications in an Agile Project Model, using Jira.
Salary: $165,600.00 - $181,000.00 /year.
