Affirm is reinventing credit to make it more honest and friendly, giving consumers the flexibility to buy now and pay later without any hidden fees or compounding interest. The Card Loan Platform team builds the high-throughput decision engine at the heart of affirms card products. Every swipe triggers our platform to solve complex problems in milliseconds, matching fragmented payment network data to the correct loan.
What Youll Do- Own and deliver quarterly goals for your team, leading engineers through ambiguity to solve open?ended problems.
- Collaborate with product management, design & analytics, articulating technical constraints and partnering on decisions that consider risks and trade?offs.
- Proactively identify project, process, technology or business issues, advocate for them, and lead solutions.
- Support the operations and availability of your teams artifacts by creating and monitoring metrics, escalating when needed, and supporting on?call efforts.
- Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting or improving code review and design standards, and advocating for them through writing and tech talks.
- Help develop talent on your team by providing feedback and guidance, and leading by example.
- 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
- Track record of developing highly available distributed systems using AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
- Experience defining technical plans for significant feature or system component with an elegant, simple and extensible design; write high?quality code that is easily understood and used by others.
- Proficiency at making significant changes in a large code base, and developing a suite of tools and practices that enable safe development.
- Ownership of growth, proactively seeking feedback from team, manager, stakeholders.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills supporting effective collaboration with our global engineering team.
- Position requires either equivalent practical experience or a Bachelors degree in a related field.
Pay Grade N | Equity Grade 8. Base pay range depends on location and experience. USA (CA, WA, NY, NJ, CT) $190,000?240,000; other U.S. states $169,000?219,000. Total package may include equity, monthly stipends and benefits.
