Job Title: MachinistJob Description
This position requires a skilled CNC machinist to work in a dynamic job shop setting. The role involves the production of parts using vertical mills and requires the individual to manage both the setup and running of production. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a growing company that is about to expand its machine shop.
Responsibilities
  • Perform 2-3 setups per day on vertical mills.
  • Set up and run the production of parts.
  • Read and interpret blueprints to gather necessary materials and produce parts.
  • Conduct first article inspections using quality tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Adjust machine feeds and speeds as necessary.
  • Maintain a tolerance of +/- .001.
  • Perform minor preventive maintenance on machines.
Essential Skills
  • Experience in CNC machining, preferably with mills.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints.
  • Ability to hold a tolerance of +/- .001.
  • Proficient use of inspection tools.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous job shop experience.
  • Experience with making large parts.
  • Familiarity with G&M codes and Okuma machines.

Work Environment
The job shop consists of 40 employees and specializes in creating custom parts for the agricultural, transportation, and shipping industries. The position is on the 2nd shift with flexible hours from noon to 8 PM, with initial training during the day shift. The dress code includes jeans, a t-shirt, and steel-toed shoes.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, IN.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
