AmeriStaff Employment & Staffing Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Forklift Shipping/Receiving Operator to fill an opening with a production facility located in Rocky Mount, VA. The ideal candidate will have experience operating forklifts, handling materials in both dry and frozen environments, and ensuring accurate shipping and receiving operations.

  • Pay: $18.75/hour.
  • Hours: 4PM to 2AM
Responsibilities of the Forklift Shipping/Receiving Operator
  • Load and unload all inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accuracy and product integrity.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of shipments, date codes, and inventory transactions.
  • Stage and organize equipment and materials to support daily production needs.
  • Apply receipt date labels to all incoming materials and verify proper rotation of dry and frozen goods using FIFO (First-In, First-Out) methods.
  • Set up production lines daily with packaging materials and next-day cake pulls.
  • Conduct inspection checks for all incoming and outgoing freight, completing necessary reports and computer entries.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in dry storage, cooler, and icing areas.
  • Assist in the frozen warehouse as needed, including cake breakout and general support.
  • Report any issues that may impact food safety or product quality.
  • Follow all company safety, sanitation, and operational procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shipping/Receiving Supervisor.
Requirements:
Requirements of the Forklift Shipping/Receiving Operator
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Valid Forklift Operator License required.
  • Previous experience working in a warehouse, shipping, or receiving environment preferred.
  • Experience with RF handheld scanners and computer-based inventory systems.
  • Strong math, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of inventory control, materials management, and warehouse organization.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and work in environments as low as -10°F.
  • Must be reliable, safety-conscious, and able to follow company policies, GMP, and behavioral standards.
