Position Summary
The role of the Certified Patient Care Technicianreports to the Nurse Manager in collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services and Regulatory Affairs. This position is responsible for providing care to dialysis patients under the supervision of licensed nursing staff.
Essential Position Responsibilities
- Prepare dialysis equipment for treatment including ensuring all pre-procedure testing is performed prior to patient treatment
- Assist with disinfecting process and storage of dialysis equipment post treatment process
- Review prescribed orders to ensure machine is programmed to deliver the appropriate prescription while partnering with the assigned nurse as needed
- Obtain patient vital signs, document in the medical record, and report findings to the assigned nurse
- Monitor patient during treatment ensures patient is responding appropriately to treatment and notify assigned nurse of any adverse reactions to treatment
- Adhere to and enforce all policies and procedures as they pertain to the delivery of care, infection control, and safety
- Collect and label specimens and ensure timely delivery to the laboratory
- Assist with maintaining cleanliness of the department and ensure supplies are stocked
- Education:Highschool diploma or GED
- Licensure and Certifications: CCHT certification and CPR, required. Valid driver's license and auto insurance.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years previous experience in a dialysis clinical setting, required.
Work Environment: This position will spend 80% of time standing and/or walking while pushing, pulling, lifting, and/or carrying up to 50 lbs. This position will spend 20% of time sitting while performing work in a standard office environment.
