About The Position

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be a vital member of our engineering team, responsible for guiding projects from inception to successful completion. This includes planning, creating, maintaining, and upgrading implementations across various technology stacks. Contributing to the core features of the Vetcove platform means ensuring we deliver intuitive and innovative products that empower our users.

Your Responsibilities

• Drive the conceptualization and documentation of new ideas and product enhancements
• Develop and extend interactive React applications for tens of thousands of veterinary purchasers and corporate hospital groups
• Ensure strong test coverage for our applications
• Create reusable components for the broader engineering team
• Implement new features in our React Native applications
• Collaborate closely with our CTO, engineering team, and other functions to continuously evolve our platform and products

Your Qualifications

• At least 2 years of professional software engineering experience, preferably in web application development
• High proficiency in at least one industry-standard programming language, with a desire to learn others
• Experience building successful production applications in a modern web framework
• A keen ability to design features with a focus on accuracy, security, and performance
• Familiarity with database management and query optimization
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript and its functional programming features
• Good practice of software testing
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Ability to quickly adapt and manage multiple responsibilities
• A sincere desire to contribute to the success of our customers
• A positive, team-oriented mindset
• Experience with backend programming, ORM, and writing API endpoints is a plus
• Startup experience is highly valued

Typical base pay for this role across the U.S. ranges from $115,000 to $200,000 annually, plus bonus and equity options. In Colorado, the salary range is $135,000 to $175,000 with additional benefits. Actual compensation may vary based on your skills and experience.
