CMSC: Capacity Building Volunteer (CDRC)
The Community Mediation Service Corps (CMSC) AmeriCorps program is dedicated to enhancing community well-being by equipping individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary for effective conflict resolution. Our program offers two paths: the traditional AmeriCorps member route and the Volunteer Project. The traditional path provides full-time and part-time members with comprehensive training, mentorship, and real-world experience in mediation, allowing them to make a meaningful impact in communities across New York State. Members receive ongoing support and opportunities for professional growth, ensuring they are well-prepared to address diverse conflicts and promote peaceful resolutions. The Volunteer Project offers flexible 100-hour and 300-hour terms, enabling members to contribute to mediation efforts while gaining valuable experience in conflict resolution and restorative practices. CMSC members are instrumental in fostering dialogue, understanding, and healing within communities, promoting long-term peace and stronger, more resilient communities.
Member Duties : Our AmeriCorps members provide crucial support to conflict resolution centers across New York State. At CDRC, abbreviated-time Capacity Building members mediate small claims and community disputes in-person across Chemung, Schuyler, and Tompkins counties. They also provide conflict coaching and support mediation logistics. Members help build capacity for in-person services while gaining valuable field experience. They also participate in professional development and service initiatives, making a lasting impact on their own skills and the lives of those they serve.
