Large utility is looking for a GIS Technician in Royal Oak, MI. This role requires a High School diploma and an aptitude for utilities to perform remote data entry and verification of gas service records using ESRI ArcGIS and SAP based on field redlined drawings. responsibilities:

  • Enters gas service record information into GIS systems based on field redlined design drawings.

  • Extracts and processes work order information from the SAP Work Management System.

  • Verifies the quality and accuracy of gas service data across both GIS and SAP platforms.

  • Updates GIS data and asset attributes to reflect current field conditions.

  • Checks technical specifications on graphic designs and data fields associated with service designs.

  • Collaborates with team members and customers to resolve data discrepancies and technical problems.

  • Corrects asset locations and data attributes for gas distribution networks as required.

  • Meets production goals and deadlines through efficient workload management.
Skills:

  • Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within GIS (ESRI ArcGIS), Utilities, or Gas field.

  • Has knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and other commonly used tools.

  • Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.

  • Ability to work in virtual/remote work environment.

  • Attitude and aptitude to learn new skills and perform new responsibilities.
Desired Skills:

  • SAP or general Work Management System experience.

  • strong customer service background, and some work experience in utilities gas service records and/or engineering work.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent.
