Your Role

We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Database Query Optimization team at Teradata Labs. In this exciting role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and testing innovative enhancements and features for the Teradata Vantage Core Platform. Your contributions will span the entire Agile software development lifecycle.

  • Lead all phases of Agile software development, from design through customer support.
  • Analyze competitor database systems and data integration solutions, suggesting enhancements to improve Teradata's offerings.
  • Create, implement, validate, and test novel query optimization features, conducting both functional and performance analyses to rectify code defects.
  • Support the continuous delivery of high-quality database products, ensuring robustness and resilience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related field with a minimum of five years of experience, or
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with at least three years of relevant experience, or
  • PhD in Computer Science or related field.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience with the LLVM open source project is a plus.
  • Proficient in programming languages such as C++, Java, Python, R, SQL.
  • Strong foundation in computer science principles, including object-oriented design and design patterns.
  • Demonstrated system development experience.
  • Skilled in debugging complex software within parallel processing environments.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, a creative thinker, and an effective communicator.
  • Familiarity with various database technologies.
  • Experience with Agile software development practices and tools.

Compensation and Benefits

Starting pay ranges from $108,600 to $163,000 annually, based on experience and geographic location. Eligible employees may receive commission or annual incentives. Our benefits package includes healthcare, life and disability insurance, 401(k), and generous time-off programs. Details will be discussed during the hiring process.
