Nurse Practitioner

Pain Management Nurse Practitioner job duties include, but are not limited to:
Assessment and management of patients with acute and chronic pain, to include modalities of Spinal Cord Stimulation and Intrathecal Pumps.
- Performs a physical exam based upon the age and patient history as per the Standard Care Arrangement with a collaborating physician.
- Orders and interprets diagnostic lab and radiological studies as indicated to assess patient's clinical problems and health care needs.
- Develops a diagnosis by analyzing and synthesizing collected data.
- In collaboration with the physician, develops a treatment plan with the patient and significant others.
- Performs diagnostic, therapeutic, or preventative health care services consistent with certification, law, and Cabell Huntington Hospital privileges.
- May prescribe and monitor medications as allowed by prescriptive authority through WV Board of Nursing and CHH policy.
- Provide direct patient care, by making treatment recommendations and explaining the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of procedures to the patient and/or patient's family.
- Monitor patient progress by carrying-out patient care services; maintaining patient records; consulting with physicians when patient's progress does not meet anticipated and/or predetermined criteria.
- Other duties as assigned
Education:
- Master of Nursing Practitioner is required
- WV RN & APRN licensure required.
- 2 years of position-related experience preferred - Preference will be given to those experienced in Pain Management.
