Strategic Initiatives Associate

Overview

BigBear.ai is seeking a S trategic Initiatives Associate to support the Office of the CEO in enterprise-level transformation and growth initiatives. You will play a key role in driving insight, structure, and execution across the company’s most strategic priorities.

Working closely with the VP of Strategy & Chief of Staff to the CEO, you will interface with leaders across all functions, including corporate development, growth, finance, technology, and operations. Your mandate: bring analytic rigor, modeling fluency, and strategic thinking to high-impact decisions that shape BigBear.ai’s future.

What you will do

• Build and maintain detailed financial and strategic models to evaluate product investments, partnerships, and business cases

• Drive preparation of Board of Directors materials, including quarterly business updates, investor decks, and strategic memos

• Identify and support high-leverage business development and marketing partnerships that reinforce strategic positioning and accelerate growth

• Conduct market, competitor, and customer research to inform go-forward strategy and positioning

• Support early-stage corporate development activity, including opportunity sourcing, target evaluation, and synergy analysis

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Technology, Corporate Development, Growth and Marketing teams to drive alignment on strategic initiatives

• Contribute to enterprise strategic planning cycles and CEO-sponsored initiatives across business units

• Translate complex ideas into clear, data-driven narratives for executive stakeholders

What you need to have

• 3- 5 years of professional experience with 2+ years at a top-tier management consulting firm or equivalent strategic role in tech, finance, or corporate strategy

• Strong understanding of all functions within a corporate enterprise

• Strong fluency in financial modeling, Excel, and PowerPoint

• Structured thinker with strong business intuition and quantitative problem-solving ability

• Experience or familiarity with the U.S. federal government market preferred (DoD, IC, or civilian)

• Excellent communication and storytelling skills, especially in executive or investor-facing settings

• Self-starter with a high degree of ownership, discretion, and intellectual curiosity

• Must be willing to work in our McLean, VA office

What we'd like you to have

• Experience supporting corporate strategy or transformation programs within public companies

• Familiarity with the AI innovation landscape

• An active U.S. security clearance a plus
