Position Summary
As a Special Inspector at Alta E&I, you'll serve as the day-to-day eyes and ears on construction sites, performing inspections and materials testing in accordance with project specifications and building codes. Areas of inspection may include soils, concrete, masonry, structural steel, fireproofing, and more. Work is conducted independently under the guidance of a Professional Engineer or Project Manager.
Responsibilities
- Perform field testing, observations, and inspections per project requirements.
- Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Draft clear inspection reports for Project Manager review.
- Analyze data for accuracy before reporting findings.
- Communicate effectively with project teams.
- Adhere to OSHA and company safety standards, complete safety training.
- Conduct pre-task planning and report safety concerns.
- Maintain personal field equipment.
- Pursue and maintain relevant certifications (e.g., ICC, AWS CWI, PTI).
- 2-4 years' experience as an Engineering Technician or similar; 5+ years considered for senior roles.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency with interpreting structural plans
- Performing materials testing per standards, and concise reporting.
- Physically able to work in varying weather conditions and environments (elevated surfaces, confined spaces).
- Preferred certifications: ATTI, ACI, Radiation Safety, Nuclear Gauge operation.
