Freshman Admissions Counselor

Key Responsibilities:
- Manage an assigned recruitment territory and serve as the primary point of contact for prospective students, families, and school counselors.
- Represent the University at high school visits, college fairs, community-based organization events, and other recruitment functions.
- Conduct outreach and counseling via phone, email, text, virtual platforms, and in-person meetings.
- Review and evaluate applications for admission and contribute to admissions committee discussions.
- Assist in the planning and implementation of on-campus and virtual events, including open houses, information sessions, and admitted student events.
- Maintain accurate records of student interactions and territory activity using Slate CRM and Jenzabar SIS.
- Collaborate with campus partners to support prospective student engagement and improve the admissions process.
- Provide exceptional customer service to all prospective students and families.
Travel and Schedule Expectations:
- Extensive travel is required during the recruitment season, including multiday and overnight trips.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are required.
- Frequent evening and weekend work is expected during peak recruitment and yield seasons (September–November and February–April).
- During peak times, work hours will exceed a traditional 40-hour week.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Prior experience in admissions, higher education, or related fields preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Comfortable with public speaking and presenting to groups.
- Familiarity with Slate and/or Jenzabar is a plus.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills strongly preferred.
