Rhino Medical is leading the charge seeking experienced Emergency Medicine Physicians (MD/DO) for an ongoing locum tenens assignment in Rutherfordton, NC.   • Location: Rutherfordton, NC
  • Contract Type: Locum Tenens - Emergency Medicine Physician
  • Start Date: September 2025
  • Assignment Length: Long-term (6+ months preferred)
  • Shifts per Month: 8-10 shifts (nights and weekends preferred)
  • Credentialing: Standard timeframe; no emergency privileges available

  • Annual ED Volume: 30,000 visits

  • ED Beds: 30

  • Patients per Hour: ~1.6

  • Trauma Designation: Non-Trauma Center

  • EMR System: Meditech

  • Admitting Orders: Managed by the Hospitalist team

Schedule & Coverage

  • Shift Times: 24-Hour Coverage

    • Days: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM

    • Nights: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM

  • APC Coverage: 35 Hours Daily

    • 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM

    • 10:00 AM - 10:00 PM

    • 12:00 PM - 12:00 AM

Candidate Requirements

  • Board Certification: ABEM or AOBEM (Board Eligible or Recently Boarded may be considered)

  • Licensure: Active & Unrestricted North Carolina Medical License & DEA

  • Certifications: ACLS Required

  • Experience: Recent emergency medicine practice preferred in similar-volume settings
