Medical Office Assistant for Veterans Services

Maximus is seeking dedicated Medical Office Assistants to support our Veterans Evaluation Services (VES) Team. This role focuses on aiding providers and veterans on exam days and delivering exceptional service to our wounded veterans with a caring and proactive attitude.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA policies and all relevant health and safety laws.
- Collect and provide necessary information to providers, including forms, documents, and vital signs needed for evaluations.
- Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting visitors, directing them appropriately, answering inquiries, and confirming appointment details.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all interactions with veterans and providers.
- Keep exam rooms clean and well-stocked between appointments and throughout the day.
Additional Requirements:
- Must reside in or near Detroit, MI.
- Willingness to travel to support other clinics in the Central region.
- Availability to work weekend shifts as needed (Saturday and Sunday).
- Ability to work onsite at our Detroit, MI location.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Arrive 30 minutes prior to scheduled exams.
- Greet veterans upon arrival, gather medical history, obtain diagnostic results, and provide a sign-in sheet.
- Assist providers with essential documentation (worksheets/HX forms/day/face sheets) and support with vitals (weight, height, blood pressure).
- Keep thorough and updated notes in the OMS regarding interactions with veterans and providers.
- Intermediate knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required.
Compensation: $19.00 per hour
