PGS Worldwide is seeking an experienced Field Technician III to support an advanced aerospace and defense program in Camarillo, CA. This one-year contract-to-hire position involves hands-on support at the EA-18G Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL) located at Point Mugu, CA. The successful candidate will provide technical expertise in the operation, testing, repair, and maintenance of complex avionics, radar, and electronic warfare (EW) systems used in developmental test and systems integration environments.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • 8-10+ years of experience in avionics labs, depot-level maintenance, flight test environments, or systems integration
  • Hands-on support experience for military aircraft systems (EA-18G, F/A-18, F-35, B-2, UAVs, or rotary-wing platforms)
  • Background in developmental or integration testing, including system validation activities
  • Proficiency with lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and signal generators
  • Familiarity with Systems Integration Labs (SILs), avionics racks, or Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) environments
  • Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Skilled in RF, analog, and digital circuit troubleshooting
  • Proficient in soldering and rework (surface mount and through-hole components)
  • Strong troubleshooting experience with wiring harnesses, breakout cables, and point-to-point continuity
  • Must have an Active U.S. Secret Clearance
Preferred Technical Expertise
  • Knowledge of avionics data buses such as MIL-STD-1553 and Ethernet
  • Experience with bus analyzers, avionics data loaders, and flight simulators
  • Familiarity with RF testing techniques: impedance matching, VSWR, and antenna performance verification
  • Experience working with fiber optic systems, including inspection and loss testing
  • Ability to fabricate and troubleshoot custom test harnesses and breakout cables
  • Understanding of ESD handling procedures and lab safety protocols
  • Skilled with test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, power supplies, and function generators
  • Competent with basic computer applications (Excel, Word, digital maintenance logs)
Position Overview

The Field Technician III will operate in a high-performance laboratory environment supporting radar, electronic warfare, and avionics systems integration and testing. This position requires independent problem-solving, advanced technical skills, and the ability to collaborate with engineering teams to resolve complex issues efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, evaluate, and operate laboratory systems supporting hardware and software integration
  • Troubleshoot and repair system malfunctions at the component and system level
  • Perform installation, upgrade, and maintenance of electronic systems and equipment
  • Conduct system diagnostics and verification testing per established procedures
  • Fabricate and test harnesses, connectors, and other lab hardware as needed
  • Analyze product performance data and document results accurately
  • Provide technical support, system updates, and configuration changes under engineering guidance
  • Maintain effective communication with engineering staff and customers
  • Support onsite training, system documentation, and lab configuration control
