Pediatric Cardiac Imaging Specialist

Overview:
As a Pediatric Cardiac Imaging Specialist at Presbyterian Healthcare Services, you will play a vital role in diagnosing and managing congenital heart disease in patients of all ages, including fetuses, children, and adults.
Our Pediatric and Adult Congenital Cardiology program is the state leader in congenital heart disease, delivering comprehensive surgical, interventional, and ambulatory care. We perform over 250 congenital cardiac surgeries and interventional cardiac catheterizations annually and are growing continuously.
In this non-academic environment, Echocardiographers at Presbyterian are essential to congenital heart disease care, often providing the initial diagnostic assessment and collaborating with physicians to ensure patients receive thorough echocardiograms. You will also participate in OR and cath lab imaging, as well as conduct inpatient and outpatient echocardiograms.
We are currently offering:
- Sign-on bonus of $20,000
- Relocation assistance of up to $6,000 for qualified candidates.
This is a full-time (1.0 FTE), non-exempt position.

Responsibilities:
- Echocardiography Imaging: Conduct comprehensive diagnostic imaging using 2D, 3D, and color imaging techniques to evaluate heart structure and function.
- Patient Care: Maintain a patient-centered, safe, and comfortable environment during each echocardiogram. Clearly explain processes to patients and promptly inform physicians of critical findings or changes in patient condition.
- Reporting: Prepare preliminary echo reports with relevant measurements.
- Outreach: Participate in outreach clinics up to once a month, including potential overnight stays at clinics providing congenital cardiac care to rural locations.
- Call: Participate in weeknight and weekend on-call duties, with an average of one overnight call per month.
- Collaboration: Work with fellow sonographers and physicians to optimize patient flow and imaging quality.
- Equipment Maintenance: Assist echo lab managers with equipment upkeep and quality control.
- Continuing Education: Engage in educational sessions to deliver the most current care to patients.
Qualifications:
Level I - Pediatric Cardiac Imaging Specialist:
Experience:
- 1-9 years of experience in inpatient/outpatient cardiac ultrasound.
Education:
- Graduate of a two-year Allied Health Training Program in Ultrasound Technology
-OR- - Graduate of a bachelor's program in health science (including, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing)
-OR- - Graduate of an accredited cardiac ultrasound program (echocardiography) preferred but not required
Licensure/Certifications:
- New Mexico State Licensure under the NM Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program required.
- Current BLS certification required.
- RDCS AE (Adult) -OR- RCS (adults echo)
-AND-
RDCSPE (peds echo) -OR- RCCS (cardiac congenital),
-OR- Must pass registry exam for ARDMS PE or CCI RCCS within 18 months of hire. - ACS is a plus.
Level II - Pediatric Cardiac Imaging Specialist:
Experience:
- 10 or more years of experience in inpatient/outpatient cardiac ultrasound.
Education:
- Graduate of a two-year Allied Health Training Program in Ultrasound Technology
-OR- - Graduate of a bachelor's program in health science (including, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing)
-OR- - Graduate of an accredited cardiac ultrasound program (echocardiography) preferred but not required
Licensure/Certifications:
- New Mexico State Licensure under the NM Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Program required.
- Current BLS required at time of hire.
- ARDMS or CCI credential with RDCS (AE), PE, RCS, RCCS, and RDCS (FE)
-OR- - Promoted with years of experience and designated as a Lead OR resource sonographer.
- ACS is a plus.
