Location: Mount Vernon, NY

Hours: Monday – Friday / 8:00 am to 5:00 pm (1 hour unpaid lunch)

(On-site Only)

Salary: $17.00 an hr.

Position Summary:

The receptionist serves as the first point of contact at the Guidance Center of Westchester, greeting participants and visitors, guiding them through the facility, informing employees of guest arrivals, managing phone communications, and organizing incoming and outgoing mail.

Responsibilities:

  • Greet and welcome guests as soon as they arrive at the office.

  • Ensure the front desk welcomes guests positively and executes all administrative tasks to the highest quality standards.

  • Direct visitors to the appropriate person and office.

  • Answer, screen, and forward incoming phone calls; take accurate detailed messages as needed.

  • Ensure the reception area is tidy and presentable.

  • Provide basic and accurate information in-person and via phone/e-mail.

  • Receive, sort, and distribute daily mail/deliveries.

  • Run reports daily and complete data entry as requested.

  • Maintain office security, in conjunction with the security guard, by following safety procedures and controlling access via the reception desk.

  • Work TGCW Holidays as required and requested in accordance with department requirements.

  • Other job-related duties as requested.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

  • 6 months to 1-year experience in a related capacity.

  • Must have a pleasant personality and be able to deal with emergencies in a timely and effective manner while streamlining operations.

  • Must be able to multitask and effectively manage stress.

  • Must have proficient writing, professional verbal communication, organization, and time management skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office or related office productivity tools.

  • Bilingual preferred but not required
