JOB SUMMARY:

The Principal Architect, Cloud Operations will be a strategic leader responsible for overseeing a team dedicated to designing, implementing, and managing complex cloud infrastructure and solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. This role demands a comprehensive understanding of cloud computing, enterprise networking principles, and Azure services, along with the capability to provide both strategic and operational direction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cloud Architecture Strategy, Design & Implementation: Spearhead the creation of scalable, secure, and high-performance Azure cloud infrastructures. Collaborate with senior engineers across network, server, and security domains to align infrastructure with security strategies. Oversee Azure infrastructure deployments, ensuring business continuity and data integrity.
  • Cloud Operations & Support: Optimize cloud infrastructure continuously for performance, scalability, cost-efficiency, and security. Enhance operational efficiency through improved monitoring, logging, and automation practices. Lead responses to critical production issues and manage vendor relations effectively.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to cloud engineering teams, fostering strong interdepartmental relationships to facilitate seamless integration of cloud infrastructure with application development.
  • Security, Compliance and Governance: Assess risks in cloud solutions architecture, collaborating with cybersecurity teams to enforce best practices and regulatory compliance.
  • Continuous Learning: Promote a culture of ongoing education, encouraging team members to stay updated on evolving cloud and networking technologies through various professional development methods.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience in technology domains (software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking).
  • 5+ years in an IT organization or consulting firm leading technical teams.
  • 3+ years in project management or lead architect roles with Azure architecture development.
  • Proficiency in a wide range of Azure services and experience with Azure Active Directory and RBAC.
  • Experience in IT budgeting and vendor contract negotiations, alongside strong networking concepts knowledge.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Leadership in resource-constrained environments, balancing operational needs with innovative projects.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills to tackle complex technical challenges.

The compensation for this position ranges from $150k to $180K, reflecting various factors such as location and relevant experience.
