TravelNurseSource is working with Cynet Health to find a qualified Hospice RN in Charleston, South Carolina, 29401 Pay Information $1,319 per week About The Position Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Hospice Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Friday, Saturday, Sunday plus one weekday Hours per Shift: 4x10s or 3x8s plus 8 Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional nursing experience in a public health setting such as acute care or home care or hospice inpatient unit License: Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of South Carolina or holds a current compact/multi-state license as a Registered Nurse in a recognized NCSBN Compact State Certifications: Current CPR certification Must-Have: Valid driver's license with a good driving record Description: The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care for patients following established standards and practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act. The RN applies professional nursing theory and practice to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care. The RN plans, organizes, and directs hospice care. The RN supervises and coordinates care for patients with terminal illnesses, diseases, and compromised health states. The RN provides comprehensive skilled nursing services to qualified patients in their homes or hospice inpatient settings. The nurse works with minimum daily supervision or support while performing interdependent practice in the field. The RN is responsible for supervising the hospice aide, administering medications, symptom assessment and management, education/teaching, and end-of-life care. Nursing Services Works in combination with the family/caregiver and interdisciplinary team to meet the medical and emotional needs of the patient. Provides continuity of care through direct hands-on care that follows the patient's plan of care and current standards of practice for Nursing. Communicates with the physician regarding the patient's needs and reports changes in the patient's condition. Obtains/receives physician orders as required. Provides and maintains a safe environment for the patient. Teaches self-care techniques and ensures arrangements for any equipment or other necessary services and items needed. Assesses patient condition, administers medications, and evaluates/treats patients' symptoms and end-of-life needs. Completes, maintains, and submits accurate and relevant clinical notes/documentation regarding the patient's condition and care given to maintain the patient's clinical record. Quality Improvement and Education Attends interdisciplinary group meetings. Actively participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities. Assumes responsibility for personal growth and development and maintains and upgrades professional knowledge and practice skills through attendance in continuing education and in-service classes. Supervises care provided by LPNs and hospice aides to ensure treatment goals are being met. Delegates responsibilities when required. Coordinates with other disciplines, agencies, families, and others to ensure that the care needs of the patient are met. Participates in on-call duties as defined by the on-call policy. Performs other job duties and responsibilities as required. Work Demands/Environment Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, stooping, and driving. Frequent lifting/moving patients. Intermittent lifting, moving, or carrying up to 50 lbs. Frequent pushing or pulling over 50 lbs. Frequent use of finger/hand dexterity and eye/hand coordination. Constant reaching with hands/arms. Frequent talking or hearing. Corrected hearing and vision to normal range. Specific visual requirements include inspection of patients, assessment of patients, visualization of gauges, and documentation. Exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues. Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, body fluids, unclean environments, toxic substances, pharmaceutical preparations, hazardous and unsafe driving conditions, and other conditions common to the delivery of health care. Intermittent exposure to the risk of exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Moderate noise level in the work area. Requires work under stressful conditions, deadlines, or irregular hours.
