Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Catalog Assistant for the University Registrar's Office.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:
  • Edit and format course descriptions, program requirements, and academic policies for accuracy and consistency.
  • Assist with catalog/curriculum system editing and maintenance.
  • Assist with testing updates in the catalog/curriculum system.
  • Verify that course prerequisites, credit hours, and numbering follow institutional standards.
  • Maintain version control and ensure correct application of style guides.
  • Conduct quality checks on catalog drafts before publication; proactively fix or report any newly discovered issues within the system.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Education, Journalism or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Certifications/Licenses

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic data entry and document management abilities.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, including grammar, clarity, and consistency.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to catch errors in formatting, course numbers, prerequisites, and policy language.
  • Organizational skills with the ability to track multiple updates across departments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity in using Course Dog catalog/curriculum application for editing.
