Verovian Nursing Recruitment Agency is seeking an accomplished and dynamic Director of Surgical Services to lead and manage surgical care operations in a high-acuity acute care facility located in Panama City, Florida. This leadership role is ideal for a seasoned Registered Nurse (RN) with a strong clinical background in emergency and surgical services who is also passionate about patient safety, operational excellence, and strategic team development.
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of clinical experience, leadership expertise, and administrative insight to optimize the quality and efficiency of perioperative services, including operating rooms, pre-op/post-op, and sterile processing departments. As a Director, you will be at the helm of driving best practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of patient-centered care, collaboration, and accountability.

• Provide professional nursing leadership while maintaining compliance with the Florida Nurse Practice Act.
• Oversee and manage all aspects of surgical services, ensuring high standards of care, safety, and efficiency across the department.
• Coordinate interdisciplinary collaboration to deliver evidence-based, high-quality patient outcomes.
• Lead efforts in staff recruitment, onboarding, performance evaluation, and professional development.
• Monitor compliance with internal protocols and external regulatory standards, including The Joint Commission and CMS guidelines.
• Facilitate ongoing education, training, and mentoring of surgical staff and other clinical team members.
• Engage in hospital-wide quality improvement initiatives by utilizing data analytics to drive performance enhancements.
• Maintain and monitor department budgets, ensuring resource allocation aligns with patient care priorities.
• Identify and resolve operational challenges while promoting a patient- and staff-friendly environment.
• Direct unit-specific competencies and float as needed to meet business demands.
Candidate requirements
Required:
• Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma from an accredited institution
• Current Florida RN License or Compact RN License with Florida endorsement within 90 days of hire
• 3+ years of recent Acute Care ER RN experience (within the last year)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (within 30 days of hire)
Preferred:
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Advanced Nurse Practitioner License
