Overview
Have you ever contemplated how your next career step could breathe life into communication? As a Speech Language Pathologist in the lively and scenic community of Long Beach, your role will extend far beyond merely addressing speech and swallowing challenges. You will have the remarkable opportunity to transform lives, enhance confidence, and forge connections - from bright-eyed toddlers learning to express themselves to resilient seniors taking vital steps toward independence.
This position unravels unique prospects to engage with a diverse array of clients across all ages within a hybrid setting of outpatient therapy, with selective inpatient engagements. Your passions might lie in nurturing early childhood language development, championing neurogenic communication disorders among adults, or lending a caring hand to geriatric cognitive-linguistic rehabilitation. Here, fulfillment meets flexibility.
Description
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations for patients spanning pediatric, adult, and geriatric demographics, applying standardized assessments and keen observational methods.
- Devise tailored treatment strategies that targets both immediate milestones and long-term communication, cognitive, or swallowing aspirations.
- Deliver one-on-one speech therapy interventions focused on communication, language, fluency, voice, and swallows adjustments.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physical and occupational therapists, nurses, physicians, caregivers, and families, to ensure unified care plans.
- Provide insightful education to patients and families for continuous progress beyond clinical encounters.
- Help with the occasional inpatient therapy assessments and interventions, safeguarding continuity of care through the treatment journey.
- Ensure precise and prompt documentation following relevant state, federal, and organizational regulations.
- Remain updated with the latest innovations in the field, enhancing your expertise through continuing education and peer networking.
- Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited institution.
- Successful completion of a supervised Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY), should ASHA certification be pending.
- Valid state license as a Speech Language Pathologist.
- Preferred: Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
- Essential: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification acquired within 30 days of beginning employment.
- Mastery in evidence-based treatment methods across all age groups, encompassing a strong grasp of developmentally and neurologically acquired speech, language, and swallowing disorders.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills when interacting with patients, families, and multidisciplinary care groups.
- Ability to tailor therapeutic techniques addressing diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Strong clinical intuition and adept problem-solving skills.
- Proficient with electronic medical records and documentation standards.
- Competitive salary reflective of experience.
- Flexible working hours to ensure work-life balance while managing a varied caseload.
- Options for specialization in pediatrics, adult neurorehabilitation, or geriatrics.
- Paid time off (PTO) along with holiday compensation.
- Insurance options covering medical, dental, vision, and life.
- Support for continuing education reimbursement and professional growth development.
- A nurturing, team-centric environment focused on quality, compassionate care and lifelong learning.
A Journey That Moves Along with You
In this capacity, you won't merely conduct speech therapy - here, you'll step into a community-driven mission empowering voices, enhancing communication, and cultivating moments of joy through genuine connection: understanding and being understood.
You'll form bonds with fellow clinicians who regard one another as family, thriving in an atmosphere that emphasizes collaboration rather than competition. Each patient possesses a unique story; we will count on you to help narrate it compellingly.
