A Brief Overview
As a Pediatric Dietitian, you will formulate and implement nutrition therapy while evaluating outcomes for patients at Le Bonheur Children's Hospital. You will collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive nutritional care and embody our commitment to excellence.
What You Will Do:
- Provide optimal nutrition care by formulating and implementing specialty medical nutrition therapy plans.
- Document patient interactions in accordance with policies and protocols.
- Screen and prioritize medical nutrition therapy consults across all age groups.
- Conduct thorough nutrition assessments and identify nutrition-related diagnoses.
- Monitor growth metrics and ensure proper formula orders for pediatric patients.
- Utilize evidence-based guidelines in the provision of nutrition education to patients and families.
- Work closely with interdisciplinary teams and foodservice staff to implement nutrition care plans.
- Identify community resources and assist families in accessing necessary formula supplies.
- Document patient comprehension and adherence to nutritional guidelines.
- Continuously monitor and adjust care plans as needed, particularly for patients at risk of malnutrition.
- Demonstrate leadership and engage in professional development initiatives.
- Participate in quality improvement activities and other assigned functions.
Education/Formal Training Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics
- Master’s Degree in Dietetics
Work Experience Requirements:
- 1-3 years of experience as a registered dietitian.
Licenses and Certifications Requirements:
- Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist certification from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- State licensure as a Dietitian/Nutritionist.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of nutrition services related to pediatrics.
- Expertise in growth assessment and effective collaboration with healthcare teams.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in patient care settings.
- Proficiency in utilizing technology for nutrient analysis and documentation.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to perform physical activities including standing, walking, and reaching.
- Light work capability, including lifting up to 25 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently.
- Close visual acuity is required for activities such as data preparation and extensive reading.
