Join our amazing OR team Aurora St. Luke's Medical Center is the largest hospital in Wisconsin, recognized nationally for providing cutting-edge care. With a dedicated 24/7 onsite heart-care team, we serve patients from across the state and beyond, offering a wide variety of medical specialties. Your commitment, attention to detail, and ability to adapt are essential to making a difference every day in our Operating Room.

Schedule/Hours: Full-time evening shifts, with 8 or 10-hour shifts; Monday to Friday with on-call responsibilities primarily overnight (about 5-8 call slots and 1-2 weekend call slots within an 8-week schedule). On-call hours may vary based on staffing needs, and you must be able to arrive within 30 minutes when called.

Major Responsibilities Include:

• Maintaining a safe, clean surgical environment using aseptic techniques for preparing materials and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Assisting with various surgical procedures and maintaining knowledge of different types.
• Ensuring the operating room is disinfected and prepared efficiently for each procedure.
• Functioning as a Second Assistant as needed and notifying staff of any equipment or supply issues.
• Transporting patients, equipment, and supplies when necessary.
• Performing various patient positioning and transport duties while adhering to safe lifting practices.
• Demonstrating knowledge of patient care needs across all age groups.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) must be obtained within 6 months unless otherwise determined by the department leader.

Education and Experience Required:

• Completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• No prior experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Understanding aseptic techniques and equipment usage in the operating room.
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Basic proficiency with computers.
• Must fulfill annual educational requirements for hospital certifications.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-stress work environment.
• Must be capable of lifting up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist and 20 lbs. overhead.
• Ability to carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance; push/pull with 30 lbs. force; perform sliding transfers up to 150 lbs. with assistance.
• Must wear protective gear (masks, gloves, goggles, gowns) and be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach, and twist frequently.
