The Superintendent of Schools announces the following position within the Fall River Public School System:

Position: Parent and Family Outreach Specialist - Elementary

Job Description: Serve as a member of a collaborative leadership structure within an elementary educational environment. Provide leadership and service to teachers and students. Promote a positive school culture through academic and extra-curricular activities

Performance Responsibilities:
  1. Assists school administration with recruitment of potential students and their families.
  2. Develop and hosts visitor programs (student, parents, educators)
  3. Develops a range of materials for the school and the Doran Family Center.(newsletters, website, visitor materials, student recruitment, etc.)
  4. Assists in coordination of community groups that will work with students, families and staff
  5. Develop a 5 year institutional growth plan for Doran Family Center.
  6. Assist in the development of creative/cultural Arts Collaborative.
  7. Serve as a member of Wellness Team (prevent, intervene, recuperate)
  8. Coordinate parent education component
  9. Assist in translations-meetings, documents, announcements, etc.
  10. Serve as a member of the Leadership Team meetings
  11. Assist with orientation for new students/parents/families.
  12. Conduct and/or assist with home visits as needed Conditions
  13. Able to work a flexible schedule (8-4, 10-6, 12-8)


Required Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's Degree (required) Social Work, Education, or other relevant field (Master's Degree a plus)

2. Appropriate Massachusetts License

3. Bilingual/Bicultural (Ability to speak and write in Spanish preferred)

4. Experience working with families/ community organizing

5. Experience with resources in Fall River community

6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.(written and oral)

7. A minimum of five (5) years' experience in community organizing, including equivalent experience at the appropriate license level

The Superintendent of Schools reserves the right to waive a position qualification or determine that there is an acceptable alternative to that qualification. If the Superintendent intends to waive a qualification, such intent will be shared with the Fall River School Committee.

Reports To: Principal and Vice Principal

Supervises: N/A

Terms of Employment: Salary and benefits to be negotiated. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be established within an individual contract.
